What is glycemic index? The role of index and glycemic load in diabetes
The level of blood glucose is influenced by both the amount of carbohydrates consumed and their type, and that’s where…
The Google Assistant is a private voice-recognition (VR) assistant that everyone can have in their smartphone. This is a VR phone application – a technology to get the most essential information from your phone more easily and quickly. More and more often, instead of keying in a question, people use the Assistant, giving verbal instructions. We have created therefore a WellWithDiabetes Assistant – one you can talk to, using the Google Assistant.
The WellWithDiabetes Assistant is one of the first VR applications for those with diabetes.
This was created to make life easier for those with diabetes wishing to prepare healthy, balanced meals and to count the carbohydrates. Asking a question with this application makes it all quicker, leaving time just to relish the taste of your meal.
You can ask the WellWithDiabetes Assistant about all the indicators that help people with diabetes keep their glucose at normal levels.
For example, you can ask the Assistant:
We continue to update our product base – you only need to ask our Assistant. If you come across an ingredient that’s not there, please let us know.
There are also questions you can ask that help you learn more and be more motivated. Google’s Assistant will be glad to help you:
By saying the words ‘Motivate me!’, the Assistant will tell you an anecdote that will motivate you to keep up your self-discipline and to look after yourself regardless.
The Google Assistant appeares automatically on all Android smartphones newer than 5.0, making it the majority. If you are using an iPhone, you need to download the application manually from the App Store.
The simplest way to check whether you have an Assistant installed is press the circle (Home) briefly at the bottom of the screen. The Assistant window will open automatically if it is active.
You can also activate the Assistant by using the command ‘Ok, Google’, when the phone is unblocked.
If you have diabetes or just need more information, activating the application is very simple in Google Assistant.
Just activate it on your phone by saying:
‘Ok, Google. Ask WellWithDiabetes about the glycemic index’
or
‘Ok, Google. Talk to WellWithDiabetes’
We decided to create the WellWithDiabetes Assistant because diabetes is a disease whose progression depends solely and exclusively on what the patient does. We realise that only a well educated, aware and motivated person in this case, can be sure of a good life without complications.
Being actively engaged as a patient is hugely important in treating diabetes. Here, it is crucial that you can make ongoing decisions that influence your good health and how you feel. It is precisely by taking decisions that we wish to help you – so that your treatment is faster and becomes easier.
We are here to help you in the challenges you might face, day to day.
There are many parts to the diabetes jigsaw puzzle that present every day – among others:
Diet is a key element in effective treatment of diabetes – and it is diabetes that causes the most difficulties day to day, if you happen to suffer from it.
A good diet is based on the principles of healthy eating by avoiding products high in carbohydrates, limiting animal fats, simple sugars and sweets, as well as choosing organic foods with a low glycemic index. This way you can keep the level of blood glucose within planned and safe parameters.
There are indicators that can help and keep your level of glucose within the norm. These are:
Checking the above, counting, searching the Internet and printing tables is the very thing that is the most time consuming. Our Assistant is here to make all this simple and to find all the facts. This way when you need to, you can quickly use them.
Our Application was created to help you – if you happen to have diabetes.
Importantly, our Application can also help those with diabetes-related complications:
those with worsening eyesight with problems reading and those with pre-diabetes or insulin resistance, who need a low glycemic index diet. In fact, our Application can help everyone who places importance in parameters such as glycemic load or index and the number of carbohydrates.
At present you can ask our Assistant about more than 800 food products.
We continue to work on making our device the best there is. By analysing questions that you and many others may ask, we can formulate a true picture of people’s needs when it comes to this diabetes Application. We continue to top it up with new questions and new products.
We therefore wish to continue developing the Assistant so that it can help you every day – not only if you have diabetes, but also your family and all those near and dear, and of course everyone who wishes to make the most of how they look after their health.
